2023 Boxed Off: Celebrating a Year of Achievements

As we’ve wrapped up another year at Greyhound Box, it’s a good time to recognise the progress we’ve made! We’ve completed some great projects, and it’s worth taking a moment to appreciate the wins before diving into the new year. So, let’s quickly look back at what we’ve accomplished and acknowledge the hard work and success that got us here!

Magda’s Outstanding Leadership Recognised: Manufacturer Top 100 Inspiring Leader Award

Earlier this year, our General Manager, Magda, achieved the prestigious Manufacturer Top 100 Inspiring Leader award. Magda’s excellent leadership, focused on putting people first, is rightfully acknowledged in this award. She’s committed to making our team members a top priority by using different strategies to support wellbeing. These efforts have not only made our team work better, but are also helping our company grow steadily in the long run!

Magda earned recognition in The Manufacturer Top 100 not just for inspiring others with a people-focused leadership style, but also for working hard to improve efficiency in manufacturing. Her contributions have not only boosted our workplace, but have also made a lasting impact on the manufacturing industry as a whole. We couldn’t be prouder of her achievements!

 

Sprucing Up Our HQ

Over the past year, our factory HQ has undergone quite the transformation! We teamed up with our fellow Beza Road residents, Imageco, to improve our office and boardroom spaces to encourage a positive work atmosphere. Imageco helped us to consider which colours, tones and lighting to use to help boost creativity and employee wellbeing. These elements have transformed our workspaces into the inviting and tranquil rooms they are today!

Imageco were a great partner for this project as we share similar sustainability goals. We’re pleased that recyclable materials, such as the wall coverings in the boardroom, have been included in the project.

Exciting New Working Hours

Our working hours also got a makeover this year. We’ve shifted to a new schedule – working 7am to 4pm from Monday to Thursday. And here’s the star on top of the tree: on Fridays, we now finish at 1:30pm! This change isn’t just a perk; it’s a game-changer for our team’s spirit and work-life balance.

 

New and Exciting Projects

We also started work on something a little bit different for us this year. MJ Petfoods & Proteins approached us to create packaging suitable for the freezer for their raw frozen dog food brand, Dougie’s, and we couldn’t resist the opportunity! Working on this project has massively improved our understanding of the frozen packaging world and its unique requirements. With this newfound knowledge, we’re more confident than ever in our ability to design and deliver frozen packaging solutions in the future!

Creating Lasting Partnerships with R McDowell Haulage

In October, we appointed R McDowell Haulage as our transport and haulage supplier. Aligned with our company values, R McDowell Haulage is dedicated to reducing their carbon footprint and optimising machinery use to boost overall efficiency. We think having the same values will help our teams work well together in the long run, making our operations more sustainable and efficient.

 

Welcoming Our T-Level Students

We’re also excited to share that our team has recently welcomed two T-Level students to get hands-on experience in the manufacturing sector! Brayden and Haris have already worked on assembling a Christmas tree crafted using our CAD technology. At Greyhound Box, we know it’s important to hire young talent in our industry. We’re happy to help kickstart their careers, and we believe their individual insight will bring a positive impact to our team. We look forward to seeing them grow and make big waves in our industry!

Make UK Day 2023

Building on our commitment to fostering young talent and industry engagement, we’re proud to have participated in this year’s National Manufacturing Day 2023 from Make UK. As part of the day, we invited students from Leeds City College to check out our HQ and learn about what we do. They toured the factory floor, saw our CAD machine in action, and asked lots of questions along the way about life in the manufacturing world!

Bring on 2024!

As we take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey of the past year at Greyhound Box, it’s clear it’s been a busy and successful year for us. We want to express our thanks to our customers and suppliers for their continued support into the New Year. And, we also want to acknowledge the hard work and creativity of our team that has been crucial to what we’ve achieved! Looking ahead to the next year, we’re excited about what’s to come.
