Environment

Environment plays an important role at Greyhound Box, where we recognise our responsibility to protect the planet. We are committed to reduce the impact our Company has on the environment by achieving the sustainability goals set up by our Management team. We are an ISO14001 accredited Company that’s passionately working on environmental management system improvements, ensuring annual objectives and targets are met.

Staff Wellbeing

We heavily invest in our staff, our most important asset at Greyhound Box! Our wellbeing strategy focuses on creating a safe and positive environment based on trust and sharing the Company values. We aim to increase mental health awareness and reduce the stigma around it. Complying with ISO45001 and IIP requirements assists in further development of our Wellbeing Programme.

Through the effective implementation of our integrated management system and teamwork, we aim to meet customers’ expectations and be recognised for the commitment to quality in everything the company delivers. We comply with the ISO9001 requirements which assist in achieving annual quality goals.

Our continuous improvement is driven through sharing ideas, staff development and a focus on productivity improvements in every area of the business. Our History

1991
Established

Greyhound Box was created in 1991 and given the name on the idea of supplying ‘Quality at Speed’, a primary attribute of a Greyhound. And it’s the USP that we still identify with today.

2001
Site Relocation

We moved from our original base in Stanningley to our Hunslet site in 2001.

Investors in People

First achieved in 2003, and a continuous reminder that what makes our organisation special is our people.

ISO 9001

Delivering a quality service and product is just as important as having the right systems in place that enable this.

Factory Upgrade
2008
Major Factory Upgrade

Investing in two new machines allowed us to expand our factory capability and meant we could now offer printed and diecut work.

2012
ISO 14001

First achieved in 2012, we constantly look at how our operations affect the environment and do all we can to continually improve their positive impact on our processes.

MBO

The business went through a management buyout, where then-General Manager, Louise O’Brien, bought the business.

2016
Greyham

We launched Greyham the Robox to show our creative side and support the promotion of our brand.

Integrated Software Upgrade

We recognised our software at the time was not running the company as effectively as we wished. It took two years of going back-to-basics with our developers, training and working our software to run the business and drive us forward.

New Machinery Investment

In 2016, we invested in a new printing machine that allows us to produce a higher quality product in a faster time.

Business Improvement Training

The whole business went through an NVQ course, which shortly after starting, became a critical driver to further improve efficiencies within the business and propel us forward. It’s allowed us to truly understand what we do and given us the knowledge we need to continue the improvements.

Investors in People

We achieved the 6th Generation standard 14 years after our first achievement! We chose to pursue this standard to further connect our staff to the business, the Greyhound Box journey, and what we are trying to achieve.

We became members of the Sedex Organisation, which has driven ethical and sustainable improvements throughout our supply chains and promotes responsible trade.

2018
ISO 9001 & 14001

We achieved the new standard to both accreditations 15 and 6 years after our first achievements, respectively.

New Vehicle Investment

We procured two new vehicles as part of our continued commitment to the protection of the environment and ISO 14001. These vehicles feature Euro-6 engines, particularly important with the introduction of the Clean Air Charging Zones in cities like Leeds.

ISO 45001

We achieved this standard relating to occupational health and safety for the first time, something we take very seriously! We also use this to analyse risks from our suppliers as well as ourselves.

Introduction of Electric Forklift Trucks and Mini Waste Compactor

We achieved this standard relating to occupational health and safety for the first time, something we take very seriously! We also use this to analyse risks from our suppliers as well as ourselves.

2021
Investment in the Multinova MN400 Gluing Machine

We continue to enhance the efficiency of our packaging processes with this extremely quick set gluing machine.

The Manufacturer Top 100 Award Win!

Our Managing Director, Louise O’Brien, was proudly awarded a prestigious ‘The Manufacturer Top 100’ award in the Inspiring Leader category.

Another The Manufacturer Top 100 Award Win!

For the second year on the trot, one of our team members took home a Top 100 award from The Manufacturer. This time, it was Magdalena Biziewaska who won in the category of Inspiring Leader.

Greyhound Box became FSC-Accredited

Gaining our FSC-accreditation has been one of our proudest moments to date, amplifying our commitment to sustainable operations.
